5 Storage Solutions to Organize Your Garage

April 01, 2021

Your garage serves as a storage space for everything from cars, tools, sports equipment, and maybe even stuff that you don't even use anymore. It's easy for all of this stuff to sit in a pile in the corner, making things hard to find and access when you really need them.

If your garage is so cluttered that you barely have room to park your car, or so unorganized that you can't find anything, these five storage solutions will help you clear and neaten up your space.

1. Peg Boards

Peg boards can be easily hung on your garage walls and are a simple and versatile way to add storage space. You can hook different attachments onto the peg board to hang and hold a variety of different items, such as hooks to hang tools or trays to hold smaller items. The beauty of peg boards is that the arrangement can be easily changed and rearranged to fit your needs.

2. Wall Tracks

Similar to peg boards, drilling tracks into your walls give you the freedom to easily switch up your storage arrangement for your changing needs, while also saving floor space. You can add a variety of hooks and attachments to the tracks to store anything from sports equipment to gardening tools. Tracks are often able to hold more weight than pegboards, and are suitable for heavier objects such as ladders and other bigger equipment.

3. Overhead Storage

If your garage is a bit more cramped and has limited wall and floor space, just look up! Overhead racks take advantage of otherwise empty space to add shelves above your cars and to hold bins for all of your things. This can be especially useful for stashing seasonal items like Christmas lights or pool equipment that you can store up there and forget during the offseason.

4. Organizational Racks

5. Cabinets

Cabinets aren't just for your kitchen! If you don't like the appearance of storing all of your equipment and supplies out in the open, you can install some cabinets to organize all of your stuff while also keeping it hidden. Alternatively, you can get a freestanding cabinet unit if you don't want to drill cabinets into your wall.

With these simple, yet effective storage solutions, you can transform your garage from a cluttered mess to a tidy space.
