The nylon bushing is installed inside one of the torsion springs to keep the torsion bar from getting cut by the center bracket and from hitting or rubbing the springs as the door operates. This is industry standard from most garage door manufacturers. The life expectancy is 10,000 cycles with a capacity of 75 lbs. It is a good idea to change this out when you are replacing torsion springs, if you don’t ever want to have a problem again we recommend the steel center bearing.
